How this works

Ten yes/no questions, about three minutes, no email required. For the first three, open ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google and actually ask. Your answers stay in your browser and are never sent anywhere. The score is a rough guide to where to look first. It is not a measurement, which needs many prompts run many times. That is what the Index Report does.

Ask ChatGPT for the best tools in your category. Does it name you?

The most direct test. Use the words a buyer would use, not your brand name.

Does the same prompt name you in Perplexity or Google AI Overviews?

Different engines pull from different sources. Being named in one does not carry over to another.

When you ask a second and third time, are you still named?

Answers change from run to run. Being named once can be luck.

Are you listed in third-party “best X” or comparison articles for your category?

These pages are among the sources answer engines cite most often.

Is your brand discussed (by real customers) on Reddit, G2, Capterra or similar?

Community and review sites carry real weight when engines retrieve sources.

Does your site have a plain-language page that says what you do, who it is for and what it costs?

Engines lift direct answers. A page they cannot quote is hard to cite.

Does your site have Organization structured data, with sameAs links to your official profiles?

This helps a model connect mentions of your brand to one entity.

Have your key pages been updated in the last 90 days, with a visible date?

Freshness is a common factor when engines choose sources to cite.

When an AI describes you, does it get your category and positioning right?

Being named as the budget option, when you are not, can cost more than not being named at all.

Do you track any of this regularly, with the same prompts each time?

Without a fixed prompt list, you cannot tell whether a change is real.
